留学加拿大英语考试托福写作这些词的用法你真的懂了么

加拿大留学托福考试，非母语写作很多时候=做（颅内）翻译。翻译水平越高，我们的思想就能越不打折扣地传递给接收者。但是在语言水平有限的情况下，就会闹出一些笑话而不自知。比如“有声读物”在同学们笔下会变成sound book（帮助小孩识别声音的书），而本来我们寻找的是“audio book”。加拿大托福

所以就会出现明明思路没问题（甚至很精彩），分数却迟迟提不上去。原因很简单。想象中的文章是栩栩如生有血有肉，考官看到的却是奇奇怪怪（甚至有些inappropriate）的四不像。

好在，鉴于大部分同学们的主动语料库并不是很大，可以犯错的空间也是有限的，并且很多错误是常见的。如果经常总结，可以有效地减少文章的错误提高从而language use板块的得分。经过整理，我们会发现，常错单词本身并不难（都认识），难的是用对。

“the”的过度使用

错误：First,accepting the criticism helps people improve their weaknesses,which makes them better in the group work.

正确：First,accepting criticism helps people improve their weaknesses,which makes them better in group work.

错误：Firstly,creating jobs for unemployed workers reduces the crime rate.To be specific,the government can offer some jobs such as carrying the block and building the infrastructures for the workers.

正确：Firstly,creating jobs for unemployed workers reduces crime rate.To be specific,the government can offer some jobs such as carrying blocks and building infrastructure for workers.

解析：上面的两个例子都是从同学们的作业当中摘抄的，在你作业中见过无数的例子不该用the的时候用了the。冠词的使用一直是中国学生的一大难点，即便是对于advanced learner来说，也经常会犯错。但是，记住一些基本的规则还是能够避免大多数的错误。The的使用主要三种情况：特指，固定搭配，专有名词。如果不属于这三种，就大胆放弃。

interested/interest/interesting

“感兴趣的科目”

错误：interested subjects

正确：subjects we are interested in/subjects that interest us

解析：interested逻辑主语是“人”。中文“感兴趣的东西”，可以用interest的动词形式：sth.interests me。

affordable

“我能买得起这辆车。”

错误：I am affordable the car.

正确：This car is affordable for me.

正确：I can afford this car.

解析：affordable本身含义包含了被动-“able to be afforded”，所以只能用来跟随可以被购买的物品，所以”I am affordable”就是把自己当成了商品……

accessible

错误：And children are more accessible to education.

正确：Education is more accessible for children./Children can access education more easily.

解析：这两个词的意思都是“容易接近的，容易获得的”，与affordable类似，用来修饰可以获得的东西。

Prefer

错误：Specifically,everyone prefers to contact open-minded and easy-going teammates.

正确：Specifically,everyone likes to contact open-minded and easy-going teammates.

解析：例句中把Prefer当作“喜欢”来使用。Prefer的字典释义里的确有“like”的意思，但是是有比较级的--“to like better or best”。当有上下文的时候，对比另一方可以省略。当时单独表示“喜欢”不能使用。

Lead to

错误：Some people who receive criticism would not like to change themselves,which leads people who give suggestions to be upset.

正确：Some people who receive criticism would not like to change themselves,which makes people who give suggestions upset.

解析：lead to当中的to是介词，所以不能跟“to do”（虽然按照中文翻译-“让某人生气”-很顺滑）。

because of vs because

错误：Because children are fast learners.

正确：This is because children are fast learners.

解析：Because不能单独引导句子，只能引导从句。

错误：We canceled our date because of the weather was terrible.

正确：We canceled our date because the weather was terrible.OR We canceled our date because of the terrible weather.

解析：because of后面不能跟句子。托福写作

Easy

“他们很容易找到工作”

错误：They are easy to find jobs.

正确：They can find jobs easily.

解析：”容易”修饰的是“找工作”这个动作而非“人”。同理，hard，difficult等词同学们经常会出现修饰错位，错因是做了点对点的翻译而忽略了英文固有的规则。
